Welcome!

Welcome to Stephtacular Reads! My handle on most of my social media is @imstephtacular, a play on words of "I'm Spectacular" so it seemed natural that my book blog should be Stephtacular reads-- both what I'm doing and hopefully describing the books I'm writing about.

Earlier today my mom texted me "would you like to review young adult books and create a website?" My first thought was "is she guiding me towards a job posting?" but I realized she was merely suggesting it as a hobby. The idea struck me because I loved it, but hadn't really considered it until she had suggested it in that way. I have been dragging my feet lately with getting back into writing and I have been slowly working my way into the bookstagram community; her idea seemed like an appropriate mix of my interests and hobbies so I did a little research.

I used to blog about lifestyle and food-- though who was reading it, I'm not too sure and I never really cared-- but I abandoned those blogs after losing interest and not prioritizing time for it. My leisure time lately is spent cooking, reading, watching tv, reading, sleeping, and reading. I love talking about books and I love writing; writing about books seems natural.

I did a little googling about how to start a book blog and was immediately overwhelmed by some advice against starting one. I don't want my hobby to feel stressful (my work life fulfills that for me tenfold) and I don't want to feel obligated to work harder at a leisure activity than usual. I don't need a big following, or any following, I started thinking "I just need a place for myself to write and talk about books" so that's what I plan for this space to be. With my mother suggesting the idea and my husband consistently encouraging me to write even when I'm not feeling creative, I'm hoping this new endeavor will be both therapeutic and fun.

Reviews, thoughts, and many feelings about books and life to come!
